The following info is for students who will be in grades 9-12 in the upcoming 2025-26 school year and for Muse musical alumni (graduates who participated in Muse Machine musicals anytime from 1984-2025). Auditions for these ages will happen on Friday, July 18, Sunday, July 20 and Monday, July 21 (you’ll pick one).

For this age group, you may do an optional vocal audition and/or an optional dance audition or “opt in.”. Everyone in the show will both sing and dance as a group (those who “opt in” will be in the group numbers without auditioning, assuming your conflict schedules work out). Those who do the optional vocal audition will also be considered for featured vocal numbers. Those who do the optional dance audition will also be considered for featured dance numbers.

If you choose to do the vocal audition, you will prepare a short segment of a song that you sing well (maximum length is one minute and it can be shorter). Either bring sheet music or a recording without vocals (like a karaoke track) on a phone or similar device.

If you choose to do the dance audition, there is nothing to rehearse or prepare in advance. The choreographer will provide dance steps and you will repeat them. Auditionees should arrive wearing clothes that make it easy and comfortable to dance (you don’t need dance clothes, just non-restrictive clothing that isn’t too warm). Likewise, if you are dancing, you do not need to change for the vocal audition (you may do everything in the same outfit).

If I am selected to perform in the show, when will we rehearse?

Much of the rehearsal schedule will be determined based on the conflict schedules provided on the audition form. There will be several rehearsals to learn the large group vocals for selected songs. The singers and dancers for specific numbers will meet with the choreographer or music director at mutually suitable times for each song. The above mentioned rehearsals will occur on selected dates between July 21 and August 8.

August 9-12 are the only rehearsals that bring the various performers together to assemble and rehearse the show as a whole, followed by the performance on August 13. For most, it is a rather light rehearsal schedule (although there are rehearsals every afternoon and evening, each performer is only involved in selected numbers and only attends rehearsals for those numbers).
