Heather Lockwood began her professional career as a dancer at Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland. In recent years, she has transitioned to visual arts and is the award-winning owner of Lockwood Creation Studio. Heather found a love for exploring what is possible when you expose kids to art as a Waldorf and Montessori art teacher. She works in a myriad of mediums in her teaching, exploring creativity through painting, sculpting, clothing design and mixed media. Heather’s work has been featured on the walls of the Orlando Museum of Art, SOBO Art Gallery in Winter Garden, Florida, Dayton Society of Artists, Fairytale Village in Alpharetta, Georgia and The Arts Nest in Huntington, NY. She was named “Best Art Experience” by ArtFest in 2017, recognizing not only her artistic work, but her teaching style as well.

Heather is excited to bring both her dance and visual art experience to Muse Machine and eager to use her creativity to explore the unexpected with your students.

Arts Integration with Heather

Heather works with students of all ages and in all types of schools to create a one-of-a-kind art piece. The students will brainstorm images and unique materials they will use to create a mural, sculpture or mixed media art piece that illustrates the chosen learning standard. Using the teacher as the standard expert and Heather as the artistic visionary, the students create magic which will reinforce what the standard has taught them in a visual way. Through precise piecing, color mixing or building with materials, each residency results in a large-scale visual art project that will live in the school for all parents and students to enjoy. The visual story will creatively express the kids’ love for visual arts, troubleshooting and a different way of thinking—the possibilities are endless!
