Did you know?

Founded in 1982, Muse Machine is a place where imagination and inspiration meet teaching and learning. We envision schools transformed by the arts — every young person beginning a fulfilling lifelong journey as an arts maker, learner, audience and patron — every teacher engaging deeply with outstanding artists, arts professionals and artistic work — every family creating vivid memories of shared arts experiences.

PRESCHOOL & ELEMENTARY

The Pre-K & Elementary Program takes teaching artists into schools for week-long residencies that use the arts to illuminate any subject. Teachers and artists collaborate to pair artist’s professional skills with teacher’s expertise to bring learning to life through the arts.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL

In the Secondary Program, Muse provides in-school performances by leading artists and arts organizations, with the focus on relevant curricular concepts. Student members also attend out-of-school professional arts performances at Muse events as well as those presented by local professional theatres, orchestras, operas, dance companies, etc.

PRODUCTIONS

• Muse provides pre-professional opportunities to students in grades 8-12 to audition for and participate in the musical and summer concert as actors, musicians and production assistants.

TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Muse for Educators is Muse’s year-round teacher professional development. Its two major programs are: the six-day Advanced Teacher Training Seminar in NYC, an immersive experience in various art forms and talkbacks with world-class artists; and, the four-day Summer Institute, which brings acclaimed creative minds to Dayton for an immersive arts learning experience. Regular Muse curriculum development workshops reinforce learnings and facilitate creative arts-integrated lessons.

PARTNERSHIP WITH DAYTON METRO LIBRARY

In 2017, Muse initiated a ten-year partnership with Dayton Metro Library to provide year-round programming for students and their families with just a library card.
